Oculus Link Beta is live now!
Enjoy all your Oculus Rift apps or SteamVR ones with your Quest.
Oculus today announced that Link is officially in beta, the company’s compatibility software so that Quest users can play Rift titles on PC. If you have an AMD GPU, you’re going to have to wait though.
If you have a supported GPU (listed below) and a compatible VR-ready gaming PC, Quest owners can simply plug their headset into a USB 3 port, then use the Oculus desktop app just like you would if you owned a Rift, which includes to Oculus Home and Dash.
Oculus says most high-quality USB 3 cables should work, although you’ll probably want one long enough so you can play unencumbered.
What do you need
- an Oculus Quest with the latest version of the OS
- a compatible USB 3.1 cable with length from 3 to 4 meters
- a support PC with a supported GPU, for now mainly Nvidia GPUs
Is my Quest ready?
Just update the Quest using the built in Updater from the About section.
Which cable can I use?
Unfortunately you won’t be able to buy the company’s premium five-meter Link cable just yet, cause is said to come in 2020 in limited regions.
If you want to use Link now you can use a few cables but the one suggest from Oculus is an Anker cable that cost around 10$ or 10€ with a much lower cost of entry compared to the future Link cable that will cost around 80$.

Warning the cable that came with the Quest won’t work!
The charging cable that came with your Quest won’t work with the Oculus link software. Your charging cable is USB-2, while Link requires a USB-3 cable that can support both power and data.

I don’t have a Quest
I personally sold my Oculus Rift and Oculus Go just to merge all my VR devices in a single portable solution, the Quest.
